The 1804 Silver Dollar, often called “The King of American Coins,” is one of the most famous and valuable coins in U.S. numismatics. Despite its date, none were struck in 1804—most were minted decades later as diplomatic gifts or special collector pieces. Only 15 genuine examples were known until now, divided into three classes, and their extreme rarity, storied history, and association with early U.S. diplomacy make them highly prized. Top specimens have sold for millions, cementing their status as icons of American coin collecting.
